Code Academy is a website that offers courses in coding with different types of computer languages. We will start with HTML & CSS. What is this?
HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is basically the programming language that web browsers (such as Internet Explorer & Google Chrome) read to be able to display what we see. You can always view the source code of a webpage by hitting Ctrl + U in Chrome. This gives you an idea of what HTML is. It seems complicated at first, but computers have to read some kind of language so we can use programs with ease the way we do. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the look and formatting of a document written in a markup language.
You will need to go to the Code Academy Site at: codeacademy.com and create an account. Use your school email ([email protected]) and the same password you use for for school email .
You should then see an option for "HTML & CSS." This is the first course you are to take. Please ask if you have any questions.
